After Effects Title Tester

In After Effects, we had a lot of trouble working out how to create a falling text effect, therefore we opted for a handwriting style, for which we will use as our titles.

Storyboard

This is our story board that we used as a guide line into making our thriller opening. During this process we had to make few changes due to the settings, cast and timings of the shots.
There are some parts of the storyboard that we haven't made any changes to because they were appropriate and fitted well for our opening.
We have also added in more shots to make our opening longer and so it makes sense to the audience who are unaware of what the storyline is.

After Effects Research

Whilst researching I found this website which helped me learn how to using After Effects. This was a really good website because it gives tutorials in small clips which are easily learnt and helps first learners learn the basics of this software.

This software can help our group make titles and add credits within our shots which can be very effective.

Trying to use After Effects was quite hard before but after getting the hang of it, it was nice and easy to work with.

Props

This is the pill box prescription we did to stick onto a pill box for the shot of her bedside table.

Allocating Locations

This is where we were thinking of having the location for when the girl is eating
and the vase gets knocked over.

We tested out different angles of where we could shoot the scene and we were mainly
continuing with clinical colours and this room has a very bright light
which is good for what we wanted.

We then found another large space with a big window behind, meaning that the room would
be very bright. We would cover the table with a cloth and use props such as cutlery to show
that it is the dining area.

All of these shots would be very minimalistic and simplistic which we would also continue
through the shots in the bedroom.

Casting

We decided to cast Maya as our main character because she is a young female who has features which would typically be used  in a mainstream thriller film, she has dark blonde to brownish coloured hair, blue eyes and is white which stereotypically, implies vunerablity and being in a fragile state in thrillers.

Experimenting with Titles in After Effects - Precarious

Whilst learning how to use After Effects, I thought I would play around with different ways we can make our titles through animation. So whilst reaserching and learning through YouTube videos, I found an effect that gave a sort of 'shine' effect. I created the animation with our film name, 'Precarious'.

From the screen shots, I tried as much as possible to show the effect of how the shine flows through the word, from left to right, then back to the middle, which if we were to use this effect, I would hope to fade to white and thats where our thriller opening would stop.
